Process Improvement: Training Request Tool Wireframe

October 2021

About the Project

The instructional design team at an international medical device company with clients in the Speech and Language Pathology (SLP)  field sought to improve their design and development processes. This company was unique because it provided client training for their products but also in Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) related to their Speech and Language Pathology credentials. Sales agents, primary contacts for SLPs, would request training for either product or CEUs or ‘other’ often from the instructional design team. After both the sales agents and instructional designers were consulted on pain points, this wireframe solution was created for testing. It provides an interactive option to request services that provides options for sales agents rather than open-ended answer options and ensures that the ID team has all of the info that they need to address the request immediately, without further questioning needed.

Project Brief:

Initially, this was perceived as a problem only for the Instructional Design team.  Their form for submitting requests for training was an open ended form that put the onus on the sales agents to diagnose their training issue and make requests based on their wants, rather than their needs. This tools streamlined the process for the Instructional Design team while also providing support for sales agents when requesting in a way that previously didn't exist. Through this tool they were provided options and education about avaible options as well as information about cost. It also limited the kind of training that could be requested which placed boundaries that allowed the Instructional Design team to operate more efficienctly.
